“Giakoumakis Farms” was established in 1995 in the village of Selli in Rethymno, Crete. It is a family business focusing on carob cultivation, processing and packaging.
It owns 2 farms with 3,000 carob trees (250,000 m2) of Cretan variety situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty at an altitude of 500 – 700 m on mount Vrysinas.
The total area is cultivated using organic farming methods. Carob tree cultivation is based on traditional agriculture and scientific expertise.
“The first trees have been grafted to produce flowers and fruit; we have discovered a way to make trees grow attracting bees when flowering. We therefore created a tree nursery with the help of nature”.
Our main product is carob honey produced exclusively in Giakoumakis farms. We have used the latest scientific methods in modern technical facilities to produce carob honey with all its physical properties.
Carob honey has incredible nutritional value, is low in fat and completely caffeine-fee. It is a rich source of carbohydrates, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium and phosphorus and is low in sodium.
